Bath Time!

Brody had his first real bath tonight. It was the first time I actually filled the tub with water, as opposed to just sponge bathing him. He was a little cranky before his bath, so not sure what he thought about it. He usually loves his bath time though. Love this sweet boy so much!

Another Project....

Everyone knows Kevin has to have a project on the weekend. Usually it involves me hiding in the house and peeking out every once in a while to make sure he is still alive. lol! This was this weekends:

Putting a hook in our ceiling, of the garage, to lift his four wheeler.

Kevin and Shaggy worked all day Saturday on his four wheeler and the roof didn't cave in. haha! I wonder what project he will come up with next.

Brody is 6 weeks old today!!!

Our little man has made some big milestones this past week. He weighed 9.1 at his weight check on Wednesday. He is getting sooooo BIG! He outgrew his newborn clothing and his newborn diapers. The size 1 diapers are a little big on him, but I'm sure that won't last much longer. ; ) It was such a bittersweet feeling packing up his newborn clothes and getting out his 0-3 month clothing. So glad we don't have to worry about his weight anymore. He is a very healthy strong boy. YEA!!!

Brody's First Time At Church...

We started off the New Year taking our boy to church for the first time. We can't wait to watch him grow in Christ. We pray now that we raise him the way God would have us, and he comes to an early saving knowledge of Christ. So thankful for our precious blessing!

Cannot believe our little man is 1 month old today (His actual due date). I can't imagine being in the hospital today and not having him the last month. What a blessing he is. So glad he came early. =)

I would definitely have to say that this was the best Christmas I ever had. It was so awesome to have our sweet Brody Scott this Christmas. We started off Christmas going to the Christmas Eve service at church, then dinner at Grandaddy and Nannies. Afterwards we came home and....

left cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Then off to sleep, so Santa would come.

We got up bright and early to start our Christmas day.

Daddy brought Brody in to see what Santa Clause had left for him.

Then it was time to open his gifts.

Brody was wide eyed the whole time. We were so excited he wasn't sleeping, but actually "helped" open his gifts. =)

Then it was time to play with his new toy Santa brought him.....

What a wonderful Christmas morning. Kevin and I got our gift this year, our little man. =)

We are so thankful for Jesus as well. Happy Birthday JESUS!

Little man has been so hungry today...

He has had almost 3 ounces at every feeding today. Just a week ago we were having to force him to eat an ounce. He is growing so fast. Going tomorrow for a weight check. Last Monday he was 6.4 lbs. Can't wait to see what he weighs this week.

What is this face you might ask? This is our screaming little boy. Brody is a great baby. He is so alert. He does awesome during the day. As soon as night hits he wants to be with Momma and Daddy. He doesn't want to sleep alone. He is doing a little better, but still doesn't like to be alone. It's so hard to not just pick him up and let him sleep with us. I did for a few days, but am now trying to let him sleep on his own. Love this little face, even if he does keep us up. =)

Kevin and I are proud to announce the arrival of our sweet baby boy Brody Scott Jones

Brody decided to make his appearance into the world 4 weeks and 2 days early.

He was born at 9:52 on November 26th. Weighing in at 5 pounds 14 ounces and 19 1/4 inches long.

Brody is a very healthy boy. He came to the world with his cord wrapped around his neck and his fluid levels very low. He had to stay in the NICU for 3 days, but is doing great. He is a little jaundice, but his levels are going down everyday. We truly are blessed to have such a strong healthy little boy to be so early. Brody is home now, and is doing Awesome!

Thanks to everyone who have called, text, visited, and most importantly prayed for our little man. We are so grateful to you all. To God be the Glory!!!

Maternity Clothes: Pretty much all maternity. Flip Flops...

Gender: It's a Boy! Brody Scott Jones

Movement: All the time! Brody has made his way head down, so it's more of hurting movement.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night. Running. Not being achy. Clothes that fit..... Do you want me to keep going? lol
Cravings: Icee's yummy!
Symptoms: All the joys of pregnancy. Partial bed rest. I can still get up and go. I'm not constricted to the bed, but no work and have to spend the majority of the day with my feet propped up.

Best moment this week: Finishing up decorating Brody's room. Finished packing our hospital bags, except for the things I can't grab until last minute.

Originally I was not going to do this post. I don't like the thought of people knowing exactly how my baby's room is set up. I tried my best just to take pics of the cute stuff, and not give away exactly how his room is set up. It is just too cute not to share. =)

This is his dresser/changing table. I absolutely love it. The color is Espresso. It looks black in the picture but it has a tent of brown in it.

Here is all his wall decor.... we are waiting on Daddy to hang them up. (hint hint)

Symptoms: All the joys of pregnancy. Doctor thinks I have mild pre eclampsea. Only symptom I don't have is protein in my urine. I have all the rest: High blood pressure, lots of swelling, hard to breathe, headaches, etc... I have been on part time bed rest the last two weeks. I start full time bed rest on Wednesday. Doctor said for me to wrap things up at work tomorrow and let Wednesday be my last day. =(

Best Moments this week: Nothing too exciting this past week. Just lots of rest.

We had such a good time at our church baby shower yesterday. We are so blessed with a wonderful group. We played some fun games like the String game to see how big my belly is, Break the Water game, and What kind of baby food is it game.

I am very happy and blessed to introduce you to our newest nephew Joshua Colt Jones! Son of Michael and Tammy Jones, and little brother to Tansley Grace Jones. He was born on September 24, 2011 at 5:06am. Weighing in at 7 pounds 13ounces, and 20 and 1/2inches long.

Kevin and I are so blessed to have 8 beautiful nieces and nephews. We love every single on of them!!!

Best Moments this week: Friday Kevin and I had a great day together. We were both off work, so we spent the day working on Brody's room. Kevin painted the last two coats on Brody's walls and replaced the plugs in his room. We then went to Birmingham and picked up his furniture Nana and PawPaw bought him. Spent a few hours shopping and eating, and then came home and put his furniture together.... I did help a little even though there aren't any pics.

Best Moment this week: Getting to have another ultrasound of Brody. I love seeing him. I've been lucky and had an ultrasound at every visit, so it will be hard to have an appointment and not get one.

23 week ultrasound

He finally let them get a picture of his face.

My appointment Thursday was a very hard one. I have been having lots of dizzy spells and passing out, so they went ahead and did my iron test early. We did find out I am anemic, and they put me on some iron supplements. Hopefully they will kick in soon and I will feel much bettter.

Then we have our ultrasound. We had an ultrasound at my last appointment, and I thought Brody was just being stubborn and wouldn't let them get a good picture of his heart. This ultrasound they spend what feels like forever trying to get a good picture of his heart. Of course the tec's can't tell me anything. They give me his pictures and put me in a room. The doctor comes in not even a minute later and says we are sending you to a fetal cardiologist in Birmingham. While I am fighting back tears, the doctor explains that Brody's right heart atrium looks mishaped or is not growing correctly. He wants us to go to UAB to have a cardiologist do an ultrasound on Brody, and see what he thinks. Nervous Momma kicks in very quickly, but at the same time such a peace. God is in complete control and has a plan for our sweet baby boy! He is such a miracle baby anyway, we know GOD is going to do something so special with our little boy. Praise Him! Thank you to everyone who is praying for our family. We love you all so much!!

Working on Brody's Room

We spent Sunday working on Brody's room....

Kevin had to replace a part of Brody's wall that was soft. Check out the uggggly tile we found under his carpet when we pulled it back. Hello 1970's. lol

I even got to putty a few holes. I didn't do too much though. I just sat and watched mostly. =)

Abby and Shaggy even came by and helped. They were a huge help. We were really appreciative.

Kevin added trim around Brody's windows as well. I love that I am married to such a handy man. Now, all that is left is to sand and paint! Then fill his room up... YEA!!!

Sleep: The last few days i've gotten up several times during the night. When I sleep I sleep hard, but can't sleep a good sraight eight hours.

Cravings: Not really anything... This week I haven't been as hungry as I have been. I think I am jus toooo hot to eat.

Symptoms: Stuffy nose for the last month. Still continuing to be achey, and my hips hurt. Feet swelling. All the joys of pregnancy. The list could go on and on, but I am not complaining. =) I've actually had a pretty great pregnancy! =)

Best Moment this week: Getting lots of clothes for Brody and ordering his furniture. Yea!!! He already has more outfits then I do, lol!

21 Weeks

Our Little Fisherman!

We are so excited about decorating Brody's room. We have lot's to do like: ordering furniture, patching a few small holes and painting the walls, changing out some plugs, etc... before we can even decorate. Kevin and I decided to a Fishing Theme, since we both love to fish. Look at a few things we've gotten so far.

Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Karri, and Parker went to Mississippi and stopped by the Hobby Lobby there. Ours still has not been rebuilt since the tornado. Oh, how I miss Hobby Lobby! They picked up this cute fishing pole with fish frames and this cute fish that has knobs, to hang coats, towels, bags, etc. on.

Momma (aka Brody's Nannie) and I went to the Hobby Lobby in Hoover a few weeks ago and look at these cute finds Nannie got for Brody's room: A frame, a fish light switch plate, and some fish hooks to hang things on. We also got some letters to spell out his name on the wall and a cute little tissue box. I will post those after we have finished decorating them.

I can't wait until we can start putting these up in his room.

20 weeks- Half way there!

Movement: Yes! Not as much as last week. I think I am wearing him out though. We started work back last week so I have been running around like crazy. An occasional kick here and there though to make Mommy know he is still there. ;)
Sleep: Is good! lol! Can't get enough!

What I miss: Clothes that fit, lol! Running.

Cravings: Dr. Pepper still and craving a lot of spaghetti this week. Like in the beginning of my pregnancy.
Symptoms: Everything again this week. Not as bad or I'm just getting used to it. lol
Best Moment this week: Getting to see our Brody-man on the big screen. Even though he wanted to sleep the whole time and not let us get a good measurement of his face and heart.

Ultrasound 19 weeks 3 days

On Wednesday, Kevin and I got to go have an ultrasound done. Brody slept the whole time. He would not move, so she could not get all the measurements she needed. On the bright side, we get to have another ultrasound at the next appointment. Check out this foot:

Sleep: Is good! lol! Can't get enough!

What I miss: Clothes that fit, lol! Running.

Cravings: For anyone who knows me I am a water/Propel drinker. It's all I drink. Occasional soft drink but water water water! Well this week I craved Dr. Pepper like nobodies business. lol Idk why? I know it's horrible for me and baby. I have tried really hard though to make sure to still push the water and only have one glass of Dr. Pepper a day. I swear though, I think the sugar is making Brody a wild man. =) He has been all over the place this week.

Symptoms: It all hit this week. Lots of Nausea, Heartburn, Hips on fire, Headaches, Swollen Feet, Brody kicking my every nerve. Name it I've had it this week. Thursday was a very bad day. I could barely get out of bed all day. It was rough! I'm not complaining though. In the end it will be all worth it. =)

Destin

Kevin and I got to go to Destin this past weekend. We had such a great time. The first day we got there we shopped, ate, and watched Tansley play in the pool. The next morning we got up and it was raining off and on, so we decided to go for a walk. Well, our walk turned into a fishing trip. LOL! Kevin caught a catfish. The clouds finally cleared up and we got to spend the rest of the trip playing on the beach.

Unfortunately, I only got three pictures. We had an awesome time relaxing in the sun. I can't believe summer is coming to an end.

Our Decision:

Many people have been giving Kevin and I a hard time about our decision to not keep our baby home for eight weeks before exposing him to the world. It is our belief that babies need fresh air. They need to be exposed to daily germs for their health in the long run. So many babies these days are sick all the time, and the main reason is because their parents kept them inside for so long and did not allow their immune system to build up and get used to the germs of the world. There is no medical reason to keep your baby inside if he or she is healthy.
Babies are born into one of the sickest germiest places in the world "the hospital". They are exposed to many germs the first 48 hours of their lives. Plus a million people come and visit u in the hospital and all want to hold and breathe on your baby, more then they do to a one hour trip to the grocery store. Then you get them outside and drive them home in your germy car where they breathe in all sorts of germs from the outside air and your car. Then you take them home and keep them cooped up inside for two months and bring them back out into the germs. That is harder on the immune system then just letting them be exposed to daily germs all the time.
Everyone has their own opinion and that is fine, but when it comes to this decision we are choosing not to keep our baby cooped up in the house. In the long run, he will be healthier because he will be exposed and getting immune to germs early, as opposed to later and being sick all the time!

Big Shocker, huh?! LOL!

I went to the doctor yesterday for a normal check up. The nurse came in with the Doppler to try and find the babies heartbeat, and could not find it. She went to go get another nurse and while she is gone the doctor comes in, and begins to talk to me. In the meantime, the nurse comes in and starts listening. Literally it seemed like she listened for a good ten minutes with no luck. So, the doctor called for an ultrasound, and I begin to freak out. This same thing happened at my 11 week appointment. I didn't stress at that appointment, b/c I new it was normal sometimes with the first appointment to not be able to hear it on the Doppler. Well, I'm fifteen weeks now, and it should (in my mind lol) be easy to find. Well this little one was trying to give Momma a hard time. They put me in a sub-waiting room, b/c there was 4 people ahead of me to have an ultrasound. That was the longest 45 minutes of my life. In the midst of tears I text Kevin, who couldn't get away from work. I told him, oh don't worry this is just a check up. Not a big deal, just the normal blood pressure, weight, etc.. Lol boy as I wrong. I text family and a few close friends and asked for prayers. I said lots of prayers, drank lots of water to try and stop the tears, even tried facebook and some solitaire on my iPhone to pass the slow time. Finally they call me back. I lay on the table, she puts the ultrasound thingy on my tummy and I heard the most beautiful sound in my life. =) Praise the Lord our baby is OK.

The nurse, typed a few things on her computer and I saw it!!! Our little boy. I knew it, it's a boy! She said, "do you want to know what it is?" I hesitated because Kevin wasn't there, but quickly said "it's a boy". She smiled and said yes. She tried to get a picture to show he was a boy, but he was a typical little man and kept covering it with his hand. lol! She did get a few more pictures of our little turtle though... It's neat to be able to see his little bones in all these pictures. I can't wait for my next appointment, for a long ultrasound. That was the appointment we were supposed to find out what we are having, but in the midst of our little scare God let us have a little joy in the midst of the worry.

Thank you Lord for answered prayers! You truly are an AWESOME God!

I've had a lot fun the last few weeks looking online and picking out things for Baby Jones. Oh, I can't wait to find out what we are having! I've already decided on the bedding and nursery theme.

If it's a boy we are going to do fishing/camo theme.

If it's a girl we are going to do a hot pink and zebra print theme. Still looking at bedroom sets but so far this ismy favorite.

I won't ever post a pick of the completed bedroom. I don't think it's safe, but I do wanna share some fun ideas I have. =) I have found so many cute ideas. I won't post them all. So excited!!! =)

Happy Father's Day

Sunday we got to celebrate Kevin's first Father's Day...

He is such an amazing man and Father already.

I am so blessed to be able to call him the father of our baby.

It's so hard to believe that seven months ago we were beginning our battle with cancer. We truly had to hold on to Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." God had an amazing plan for Kevin. He brought him through that bump in the road, and healed him. No chemo was needed just God's healing hand. We both have such a different outlook on life and are so amazed at our Heavenly Father. Through such a horrible experience God brought new life. Kevin and I were told it would be harder for us to conceive children. We weren't told it was impossible, just that it would take some work. All along God had a different plan for us. We have such a little blessing on the way. God is so good! We are so blessed! I cannot wait until the next Father's day when I get to see Kevin holding our sweet baby and celebrating what an awesome Father he is.

I am getting horrible at this blogging. It has been a whole month since my last post. Errghh! We started off March with a wonderful celebration of someone very important to us:

My Momma! Happy Birthday Momma! We love you so much!

Kevin and several of our friends and family spent the next weekend tearing up our house.

We had lots of rotting siding. They took off the siding and we found lots more rotting wood, and leaky pipes. When it rains it poors, but thank the Lord he sent our income tax return to us at just the right time. ;)

Kevin took a little break from all the work to go to a Mardi Gras Gala with me.

It was a lot of fun and was fun to have something to get all dressed up for. hehe

The next week Kevin spent prepping the house for new siding. Isn't it beautiful?

Let me just say, I am so thankful for such a handyman husband. He is a hard worker and I love him more then he knows. So blessed!

Now we are beginning the fourth week of March and have a huge announcement:

We are going to be an Aunt & Uncle again for the eighth time! We are so excited for Michael, Tammy and Tansley. Can't wait to meet this little blessing. Come on September!!!

Valentines

Kevin and I had an awesome Valentine's Day! He surprised me with Roses and a candle lit dinner.Then he surprised me with a beautiful necklace and matching earrings. I love them and have worn them every day since.

I got him a scope he had been wanting, new jeans and shoes. It was one of the best Valentine's we have ever had. Just chill. No waiting in line at a restaurant. We did everything in our own time and no stress. We even got out and did a little shopping and ended the night with a yummy icee and cookie from the cookie company. =) It was a wonderful Valentine's day. Thank you Smacky for the best Valentine's day ever. I love you!

Tansley Grace Jones!

Wow how this year has flown by. We are so blessed to have you in our lives. Your sweet smile melts our hearts every time we see it. We love you so much and can't wait to watch you grow into a Godly young woman. Hugs and big kisses sweet baby girl!

Gatlinburg 2011...

Have you ever had one of those "What were we thinking?" kind of moments. Well that is what we had as we drove to Gatlinburg the week after the big ice storm of 2011. Lots of icy roads on the 6 hour drive there. When we do arrive and finally check in we make or way up the mountain to our cabin and what do we find? More Ice and no way of getting to our cabins without slipping and sliding. After trying several different cabins and not being able to get to them we make our way back to the original cabin and start shoveling. I was scared, but so thankful for the strong men in our group working so hard to make our trip a safe one. Once we made it up to our cabin. We got to see this beautiful view.

And then the snowball fight begins... =) That same night we went to the Old Mill Restaurant for dinner. It is so YUMMY!
Then off to the Go Kharts we went. The guy added water to the tracks, which of course froze immediately and they slid and crashed all over the place but all I heard was bang hahaha crash hahaha!

We got up bright and early the next morning and ate breakfast at one of our favorite places in Gatlinburg, and then rode the tram up to Ober...

Where Kevin (in the middle in the blue and white jacket)and our friends snowboarded.

We decided to stay in the cabin for dinner and let everyone rest after a tiring day on the slopes. Then most of us got our second wind and went for more Go Kharts, and some mini golf. The next day was Tammy's birthday, so we surprised her with a cake for breakfast.

Then headed to the Dixie Stampede that night to celebrate!

Then being the kids we are have a little fun at the arcade!

The last day our trip came way to fast, so we spent the day shopping in Gatlinburg and of course taking a silly pic for the road. =)

ICE STORM 2011

We woke up this morning to a beautiful white iced covered lawn.... So what do we do?

The smartest thing we could have done. lol Get in the car and drive over to Michael and Tammy's house...

We had a blast playing with our niece, Tansley in the ice. She was very interested in it, and had fun laughing at all of us. Wish we could have made a snowman, but the ice was to hard and wouldn't stick together, when trying to ball it up. Oh well next time!

Christmas Memories 2010

We started out our Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve at the Jones house. We had a great day of eating and opening gifts. This year we played dirty Santa with the adults on the Jones side and it was so much fun. I came home with a little video camera and Kevin came home with some Costa's sunglasses. We went home later that afternoon for a little nap before the Christmas Eve service. We went to Ridgecrest for a great time of worship and celebrating our Saviour. Then we went to the Todd's for dinner.

Early Christmas morning we got up and were at the Todd's by 6:00. We got to open lots of fun gifts, ate lots of yummy food, and watch the kids enjoy their new toys. I love this time of year. We are so blessed to have such great families! Merry Christmas!!!

The last two months...

One of the scariest things in life is to sit in a waiting room, then go back and to sit in a doctor's office to find out your husband has cancer. We found out on November 8th that Kevin has cancer. We spent the next week preparing and on November 15th he had surgery to remove it. On Wednesday, November 25th we went back to the Doctor to get results from surgery and the doctor said Kevin's tumor was a nonseminoma germ cell tumor. He informed us that Kevin has embryonal carcinoma cancer. He went in to discussing the two options Kevin had from there was to try chemotherapy or another very invasive surgery, where they open up his stomach and take out all the lympnodes. So with a prayerful heart we decided it was going to be best to try chemo first.
On December 6 we met with an Oncologist to discuss chemotherapy. He thought it would be what was best for Kevin due to the fact that his tumor markers where still so high. So he sent him on Friday December 17th to the Radiologist to put a port (catheter/iv) in his chest, that goes into an artery of his heart. This is where they will give him his treatments, draw blood etc.... They said he would have 3 treatments 4 weeks apart, so we scheduled his first treatment for Monday, Dec. 21. I get the house cleaned and I buy lots of antibacterial soap. I prepared my friends and family to keep germs away from our house. Then on that Monday we go to that appointment and the Doctor told us that his tumor markers where still continuing to drop, so they wanted to wait on the chemotherapy. This truly is an answer to our prayers. The Doctor said he was 'shocked'. We all know who is healing him though. He has to go back in a month to have his tumor markers checked to decide is they will indeed treat him with chemotherapy. God truly has blessed us with great prayer warriors and we are so thankful for everyone! We just want God to be glorified through all of this... To God be the glory forever and ever...AMEN!

Kevin and I got up way toooo early this morning, ;) and went fishing...

We had such a great time. It was so relaxing. When we first got there it was freeeezing, but it got a little warmer as we fished and because a beautiful day. I can't wait to go again.

It's been almost three months since my last post. Crazy how fast time flies! Today was a fun day at work. My coworkers celebrated my unBirthday...

I have a summer birthday and of course we aren't in school then, so we got to celebrate today. It was super fun!

Date Night...

Last weekend Kevin surprised me and took me on a short get away to New Orleans. We drove down on Friday and walked around New Orleans for around 6 hours. Boy were we sore that night. Of course we went down Bourbon Street...

We took a carriage ride around the French Quarter... And we finally got to eat at Pat O' Briens. Kevin and I have been to New Orleans 3 times before and never have gotten to go. So this time Kevin finally got to try the famous Hurricane. =)It was so much fun. We spent the night Friday night and came back home on Saturday. It was great to get away from Tuscaloosa even just for one night. Love our date nights!!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY.... (a little late)

For the 4th of July we went to the lake. We had such an awesome time. It was so relaxing and fun.

Shaggy brought his boat too...

It was Tansley first time at the lake and she loved it. She loved splashing the water with her hands and feet. I think she is going to become a little fish. =)

Mary and Ava got to come too. Ava was so much fun this year. Last year she was scared of the water, but this year all she wanted to do was be in it. She is such a good little swimmer with her life vest on. She was so funny!

Kevin's parents came around lunch time, and Brooke came also. It was just an all around fun day. I LOVE BEING ON THE WATER!!!!

Beach....

A group of our friends got together and went to the beach for my birthday. Because of the oil spill we didn't get to spend any time on the beach but thankfully we had some awesome pools to swim in. We (I really) spent most of the days we had there soaking up the sun. Oh I love it!!!

At night we would get ready and go eat dinner, ride go kharts, and head back to the condo and get it the hot tub... How I miss this life, lol!
We had such a great time and I am so ready to go back!!!

Last night my family and friends got together to celebrate my 27th Birthday. It was so much fun. We went to Olive Garden to eat and had some yummy Yogurt Mountain. Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate. Y'all are the best!

Veggies...

Smackey has been working very hard to grow us some vegetables. Everyday he comes home from work and clears away the rocks or trash that has accumulated around them, and then waters them. I went out there yesterday morning and saw the first signs of a tomato....

And then I walked over to the peppers and look what I saw =) They are growing, yea! Before we know we will be eating some yummy veggies...

Our 4th Anniversary....

I cannot believe it has been four years since our special day. On June 4, Kevin and I celebrated our 4th Anniversary. Time seems to be flying by so quickly, I can't wait for the next 100.
